The 9th Annual Girl Open House and Invitational Contest went down last week at the Girl/Chocolate Warehouse. Free Inn-and-Out burgers as usual, free tattoos, the wheel-on-the truck game, Ballin' with Beibel, and the infamous petting zoo.

DC Street League Am Contest

Last month DC held a contest at the Lafayette Skate Plaza in downtown LA.

Tislam and Guffey represented for the "Z" and placed in the top 5.

Tislam got 4th place and Guffey got 2nd... we all got to the DC Street League and sat front row to watch Sean Malto take home $150,000

NSA Contest and Street Shredding

It is quite a challenge to convince any ZJ Skate Team rider to skate a contest on a Saturday.

The NSA contest was supposed to be for 13-18 year olds, so I was able to rally Olan, Stewie, and Tislam. After over an hour of waiting for Tislam at the "Z", we finally got on the road to the Active in Long Beach. Here is what went down...

At some point in time today I heard that there was going to be a free concert at the Santa Monica Pier... I decided to look it up on the trusty interweb and found out the legendary Tony Hawk would be there doing a demo as well. Talked Riley into coming down to check it out with me and was obviously thrilled!

It should be easy to figure out why the post is named "the black fuzz" post. There is some dust on my sensor and need to remember to clean it before I shoot any more photos... total rookie maneuver. Anyways... enjoy the photos!

We were asked to leave and come back in an hour, when the teachers left. We went and got tacos and made jokes about Tislam Tailsliding for Tacos... well Tislam actually saved a taco and would not eat it until he landed the tailslide seen here.

Holy crap people! I must say that I am really into these super-pro skaters building skate plaza's in public parks. This one is insanely epic - replicas of sick spots, rails, manny pads, ledges, tranny, a pole jam, a pyramid hip... I only shot a few sequences as it was 90 degrees out and I got food poisoned the night before- Jack-in-the-Box, never again!

When I got there the Sylmar rail/stairs session was already underway. I only skated for a few minutes when I realized I would be missing some proper tricks going down if I didn't start shooting photos. One of our ZJ Team Riders, Brendan was putting it down for the crowd!

Broahtog in Beijing, China

Ni Hao! As some of you may know- I am on a little vacation in China visiting my girlfriend who is studying here for the semester.
Of course I brought my skateboard and mini-digi cam -
It is about time for a new post, so let's get crackin!

First day in Beijing, had to do some touristy stuff - this is a stone carving inside of the Forbidden City (now called the Imperial Palace) ...I had to stitch two photos together to see the whole thing in detail...

This stair set/ bank thing is inside of the school campus where Catie is studying - I skated it for about an hour trying a bunch of tricks into the middle bank - Kickflip, Shuvit, Front 180, and finally fired off a proper 360 flip ...maybe Catie will film it later..

This was the first skateboard in Beijing that I saw, besides my own - I found it in the sporting goods section of the WuMart (their version of WalMart)...It was priced at 238 RMB (which is about $35 US)...

I had no idea this spot was in Beijing until I arrived and searched YouTube for Beijing Skateboarding...so stoked!

I met a guy named Eli who works at one of the only skate/snow shops in Beijing called "Icon X"
This is his mini-ramp, and it is pretty epic...

Today is a sad day...it was unfortunately the last Sunday I am going to have off for a while.
That's right ya'll, Broah is back in school and won't be snapping photos quite as often anymore.

This morning woke up at around noon-thirty along with the rest of the 825 crew...Mikut, Posey and Leo all crashed at the house and woke up ready to skate..except for Leo, who decided to go get tubular at the beach instead.

So it has been over a week since the ASR trade show madness...my first day back in Santa Monica and not having to work was last Sunday. Little "E" and Tata met me at Broadway school to warm up on the benches, when we stumbled upon some new butter benches...

Started off the session with a predictable trick...

We had to go check out the infamous 5 stair hubba ledge for "old times sake"

Hello out there to all of my anxious and loyal fans....

I am posting from "the Windy City" aka Chicago. I am on a vacation with my family in the midwest and about to say goodbye to my girlfriend, who will be studying abroad in China for 4 months...ouch! Anyways- maybe that mean I will have more time to post more photos and sequences...that would be sweet. Here is all the coverage from Dan's Diaper Jam Skate contest which took place about a week ago. Each participant was required to bring a package of diapers for Dan's baby boy who is due in about 7 weeks....swiizzzeeet!!! ENJOY!

Some of you may know that the ZJ Boarding House skate team qualified for the X-Games this year...and thats about all that happened...Alec, Jake, Evan, and McNuts skated really well, but United pulled some insane tricks knocking us out of the contest. The park that we visited today is called Thunderbird. This is where they held the Phoenix Am this year.
Everyone was a little slow moving at first from being so sore and tired, but the session turned out being super fun.

There were definitely a some kids getting in our way, but we also kind of took over one bowl section of the park for photo and filming session... oh yeah...some people still rollerblade in Arizona too..

So today was interesting....."very interesting" I think was the Tall Zack quote.
We started the day off proper with a visit to the Pecos Skate Park- Evan decided that he would 50-50 every rail there, but not just once. He did each about 25 times in a row... then something or someone must have told him it was time for a feeble...

On the way back from Pecos we stopped at our favorite local spot..."The Holy Pyramid"

Ian, Evan, and I decided to trip out on the pyramid and all got clips.--This was before the VX came out...

Had a little BBQ back at the pad- no photos to show because, well...we were all just little out of our minds.

Decided that we would go back out for more slash dogging... Back to the Tempe park...

I wasn't planning on taking out my camera...but then Alec started trying this...

What a day- Just got done eating dinner...my legs feel like noodles and I still have a layer of dirt on my skin from the parks we skated today. Let's just start off the day at 8:30am- I woke up, got crispy...and layed out by he pool for about an hour.
Eventually everyone woke up and decided they would lounge as well...

Crazy in the AZ - DAY 1

Well today started off a little rough...a little miscommunication and some ride switching at about 7:45am made the day a little more dramatic. Ian, Evan, Mike (Baby Pitbull) Limb, and myself took off from Santa Monica at 8:30am.....stopped once for some greasy mutant fast food in Blythe, an arrived in Phoenix at about 2:30. Alec's "Super Van" left shortly after with Tyler, Colin, Tall Zack, and Jose.

Getting ready for the AZ...

So... I am going to Arizona on Monday--The AZ.

But seriously- Here are some sequences that I have shot recently....

A couple of weeks ago Evan and I went up to Malibu to check out the Etnies Bowl- Got booted pretty quick, but Evan wanted me to shoot this wallie trick-- Nice touch with the Tripod...we will be back soon...

Went skating with the Guff and his buddy Eric from Ohio this week. We drove around aimlessly in Torrance and Carson and ended up at this rail Cal State Dominguez Hills. The Guff did a boardslide...but I heard that he threw down a hammer yesterday....

Well....on Thursday I had to drive out to Glendora to pick up some Coffee. If you don't know what I am talking about please visit www.cappuccino-man.com. Anyways- Ended up skating with Bowers and Evan got another sequence...killing it..ZJ on the progie.

March Mustache Madness!

So Mustache March is coming to an end...I can finally get rid of the squirrel tail on my face. Here are some sequences that were shot in the last few days-

So this was last week, Thursday. I got out of school and called Little Evan and asked where he was skating. Met up with him and Florin at SaMo High and Tyler was there too.

...On Easter Sunday about 15 of us rolled out from the 825 House to go skate the ledges at West LA College. The spot was a bust in a matter of minutes, so we went to the nearby Ralph's and set up this contraption.

...So yesterday...went skating with Furbz and The Guff all day, then came back to the beach to shoot Guff's new trick. He fucked up his ankle- so I had to get a trick.

...Skated back to the shop afterwards and DTM was getting off work, he wanted to skate real bad...we went to check out this school that is a few blocks away from our crib.

Hey there my fellow fans...I have been completely blowing it lately and I sincerely apologize. School has been rough, but I am off now for a while and am ready to get legit once again.

The Scummish Activity Post

As some of you may know, a local man named Jesus Grajeda has been working on his DVD, "Scummish Activity". The film features riders from Santa Monica such as Justin Cefai, Alec Beck, Josh Campos, and Jake Eames, and fellow L.A. ripper, Ray Maldonado.

Thanksgiving With Hendy!

On Thanksgiving skateboarders are able to skate spots that are usually off limits.
We had to take advantage of this phenomenon, so here is the Turkey Day post!

The Santa Monica Business Center is usually a bust within a minute and a half. Today we got to skate this artsy spot at Wells Fargo without being bothered.

The Nikon Service center was unfortunately closed today, but lucky for us it gave us an extra 15 minutes so this trick could be accomplished.

The Inglewood Skatepark was kinda crowded, but after a little mini-ramp slashing Brad was ready to handle this tennis court hip right outside the park.

Ahh... the famous curvy ledge (undisclosed location). This had to be at least 8 months ago...before the layer of buttery red paint was applied to help the grindage..I did the whole thing, I swear, Morasco has the footage!

The VA rail- my first time there. I took this shot with a tripod while sitting in the middle of the road. There were some angry drivers who wanted me to move. Finally an old asian man called the cops who asked us nicely to vacate the premises.

The Culver City Skatepark- I have a crapload of photos from the day it opened, I have been meaning to put up a post with those photos. Anyways, here is Hendy- once again, killing it in Cali. How are those Vans HalfCabs working out bro?

Just happened to roll up to the famous "Bump to Bench" as Via Marina filmer, Mike Morasco was trying this trick. Alex Gordo was filming it. Everyone on the scene was screaming after the trick was landed, but nobody was happier than Morasco himself.

Once again we find ourselves at Mira Leste High School in PV. This was the right after Bowers blew out both of his knees on a switch bigspin heelflip down the 10.

Marino, Hendrickson, Michigan Max, and I rolled out to Abondoned Mini-Golf last week and got somewhat legit. We found this brokendown piece of bridge on top of this pile of scum that we are skating over. It took all four of us to lift the "plank" into place to create a manual pad, which was fun for awhile. Shortly after we found some angle iron scattered about the rubble. Somehow we were able to construct a grinder...

It is only proper to pay tribute to "Broahtography Lauched" (post #1) with some SaMo High sequences. It was just another day of snapping when Marasco told me that some kid was about to show up and throw some tricks down the Greek that had never been done. I thought to myself...is that even possible? I thought everything had already been done, but Carlos Lendal proved my theory wrong...

If you didn't already know, there were about ten 7-11 stores across the USA that were converted into Kwik-E Marts to promote the Simpsons Movie. One of these 7-11 stores just happened to be on Venice Blvd. at a spot we have all seen before. I just wanted to have a couple of sequences with the Kwik-E Mart in the background.
I somehow convinced Austin to dress up like Bart Simpson...fucking EPIC!!

Another day with Austin...

So... let's talk about today. I get a call at 9:00am this morning from a woman named Isabelle who is from Norway. I met her a few weeks ago at ZJ, and she was asking about shooting some photos for a Norwegian fashion magazine. Anyways, long story short, there were 3 chicks from Norway hanging out at my house shooting photos of this blonde model from Hollywood. When Austin went to the "Z" he heard about what was going on from DTM. Austin skated his brains out, all the way back to my crib in 2 minutes flat! When the ladies were done using our house we headed out to LMU to attempt a 3 block/out ledge session. We were escorted calmly back to my car by a security guard and we headed back toward 825. We looked at this curvy ledge that has only been skated by Sierra Fellers(rumor has it) and Austin did a Manual flip out.

...that was second try folks...

But thats not all, when we got back home Austin asked if I would post that sequence on the site.. but I told him that one sequence wasn't enough. So he demanded that I come across the street to Albertson's to shoot a trick that DTM did like a year ago.

Within 5 minutes the security guard is telling us to leave, so I set up my tripod and waited for a distraction. We got about four tries in and what do you know? Austin comes through (literally) blasting an ollie through the cart corral barrier.

DTM uses this structure, originally designed by Jean-Michel Basquiat to be an oversized set of binoculars, as a drop in on a Wednesday at 11:30am on Main St.

Earlier that day, DTM dropped in on another structure that stands in front of Cha Cha chicken on Pico Blvd, near the Pier. Note the steezy ride away into the street.

This proves my theory that Dan is actually suffering from a split personality disorder.
